‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 9 spoilers: Neil Patrick Harris on first day back

For fans of “How I Met Your Mother,” Monday marks what has to be considered a pretty bittersweet day. On the positive side of things, the cast and crew are back at work for their table read! However, the negative side is that this is the last time that this group of people will have a “first day” on the show, as this marks the start of what will be the long-waited final season for the show.

Just to give you a idea of what one actor in particular is thinking when it comes to this day, just take a look at what series star Neil Patrick Harris had to say in a post on his Twitter account:

“How I Met Your Mother, season 9 has officially commenced! We had our first read thru today. Can’t believe it – the beginning of the end.”

We can imagine that this is going to be a pretty emotional experience for this group, given that so many of them have found stardom thanks to this show. Jason Segel has become a pretty successful writer and actor, Neil has hosted quite a few awards shows, and Cobie Smulders has gone on to star in “The Avengers” while Josh Radnor has directed a pair of indie films. This has been the glue that keeps the group together, and going through all of these “last” events may be exciting thanks to the opportunities ahead, but also sad thanks to the journey that they have went through together.
