Poker Face season 3: EP on hopeful return with Peter Dinklage

If you missed the absolutely shocking news from earlier this month, Poker Face has been canceled over at Peacock — and yet, there may still be life?

What we know at present is that there is a chance that the murder-mystery show could return elsewhere after two seasons, and with Peter Dinklage taking on the role of Charlie Cale following Natasha Lyonne’s departure. (She is still set to be an executive producer.) Doing something like this is in some way bonkers, but this is also a really comedic show and bringing the Game of Thrones alum on board is inspired casting.

Unfortunately, nothing is at present a sure thing. Speaking per Deadline, fellow EP Rian Johnson did indicate that he is excite to try to make this new iteration happen:

“Look, it’s very early days. We’re gonna see if we can take it out and get it going … But I love Peter, I’ve always wanted to work with him. And I would be so excited if we can get this version of it up and going. It’s a wild swing, and I just feel like it could be so much fun, going forward with the show.”

Based on Johnson’s relationship with Netflix, we do tend to think that this would be a top contender for the series — yet, there are actually good possibilities almost everywhere! Hulu already has murder-mystery pedigree thanks to Only Murders in the Building and Johnson has a history with Disney. Meanwhile, Dinklage just appeared on Dexter: Resurrection for a season, and that series streams over at Paramount+. We do not think selling a show like this will happen quickly, but its awards pedigree plus the big names should make it at least enticing to a lot of buyers out there.
