Grey’s Anatomy season 23: Star discusses long-term future

As so many out there may be aware, Grey’s Anatomy season 23 is going to be coming to ABC this fall. Are there going to be changes? Absolutely. It has already been confirmed, after all, that we are not going to be seeing either Kim Raver or Kevin McKidd back as Teddy and Owen. There could also be some new faces.
Is this going to be the final season? Well, that still remains to be seen. We would be surprised, but we say that mostly because a show this long-running really deserves to know that it will be ending far in advance. That would allow it the chance to create the best ending possible; also, it would give the fans time to prepare.

For now, none of the cast seem to be aware of any impending exit. Speaking to Us Magazine recently, Jason George (who plays Ben Warren on the series) suggested that he should be back next season, but also recognizes that “every show that gets on the air gets canceled someday … It’s just a matter of if people treat it with respect while you’re going along the path. So that’s what I have, and that’s a good time.”
Of course, a big part of the future of Grey’s Anatomy will be dependent on its ratings. From where we stand, it does seem as though the show is still performing rather well, though its viewership is not what it once was and it is also airing in a far later timeslot. These are things that are always going to influence the long-term future. The same goes for its streaming performance, and we are still lucky to know that it fares consistently as well as it does.
