‘Big Brother Canada’ season 2 official; Slice renews series
For those of you who are still furious about “Big Brother” in America completely shafting its fans north of the border when it comes to live feeds (which you can read so much more about here), perhaps this will be a little bit of solace: The Canadian version of the show will be back for another season.
Thus far, details on “Big Brother Canada’s” return are still forthcoming, including where you can audition and when the new season will start (we’re assuming it will be around the same period of time next year). Arisa Cox has confirmed that she will be back to host again, and we’re hoping that she is probably not going to be victim to the same sort of insanity that she had to endure back at the end of season 1 with Topaz voting for the wrong person.
It is no surprise that this renewal happened, given that the original season of the show was a smash hit in the ratings almost immediately following its premiere. It brought new-found attention to cable channel Slice, and even some recognition on an international level.
We hate to bring this back now to the controversy surrounding “Big Brother USA” at the moment, but we’re going to anyway. For those of you who think that not giving live feeds to Canada is the same thing as Canada not giving feeds to America, you’re out of your mind. They are completely different business models. The only genuine explanation that we have been able to concoct for the change, based on current evidence, is that CBS wanted to have their live feeds in-house this year, and either they or international stations, such as Global, did not want to spend the money or time to license the feeds. (It may not be the same thing, but we’re going to have “Big Brother 15” feed updates all season long.)
