‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 5 spoilers: Will Matt return to Mystic Falls?
We’re back now with even more scoop on season 5 of “The Vampire Diaries,” and the question that this article hopes to answer is a pretty simple one: Is Matt going to finally decide that life really is so much better away from Mystic Falls? While there are so many mysteries that are easy to gloss over and suspend belief on since this is a show featuring so many supernatural characters, this is one that is pretty darn hard to ignore. After all, why in the world would you want to live somewhere that constantly puts your life in danger, especially when you’re not really someone with the capacity to do much about it?
During the finale “Graduation,” it was revealed that he and Rebekah are going to expand his horizons by taking off and trying to see the world, and based on what executive producer Julie Plec wrote in an interview with TVLine, he will be going back to Mystic Falls at some point. The quote also touches on whether or not “The Originals” or “The Vampire Diaries” will be Claire Holt’s home at first:
“We do have the ability to use Rebekah on either show in the beginning. We will see when we start writing how much of her we’ll see before she heads off to New Orleans … When we get back, we might see [them] still on their trip. When Matt gets back to Mystic Falls, his whole world will have changed. I can’t wait to see what comes out of that adventure and how he re-adapts to life at Mystic Grill.”
It seems that for now, the plan for the flagship show is to keep the setting the same, even though characters are moving on and starting to attend college. Will that last beyond just a few episodes or a season? Time will tell…
