‘The X Factor’ USA notes: Carly Rose Sonenclar, Fifth Harmony, Emblem3
Even though there may be quite a bit going on at the moment when it comes to “American Idol,” “The X Factor” is not only still out there, but some of its season 2 contestants are producing some great music. For starters, just check out the new rendition of Bruno Mars’ “Runaway Baby” as performed by Carly Rose Sonenclar.
One of our favorites things about this performance is simply that Carly catches us completely off-guard with it. When she first started to perform the track, it seemed as though she was going for a slowed-down version of the song. Then, she sped things up and gave us a little bit of the best of both worlds.
It’s not only a fun video, but we have to say that the production quality is also top-notch. Hopefully these consistent covers will lead to some record deal information coming out soon for Carly, mostly because we’re still surprised that it hasn’t yet.
As for Fifth Harmony, you may have seen our article recently about the group recording a cover of the Ed Sheeran hit “Lego House.” What you may not have realized before now, though, was that Sheeran himself actually watched the video, and even shared it with his own fans.
One of the reasons why this group is so likable is simply due to small things like their reaction to Sheeran watching this: instead of acting like big-name stars from a singing competition, they were excited just like any young woman would be if Sheeran complimented them. Genuine, and refreshing. (In case you missed it, the performance is below.)
Emblem3 meets Little Mix – Little Mix is everywhere these days! The girls from “The X Factor” UK not only met Carly recently, but the photo to the left is of them meeting another season 2 act here in America in Emblem3. The group is starting a promotional tour here in the same sort of way that One Direction did last year, and already “Wings” is starting to pick up a little bit of steam on pop radio. (Request it now!)

Carly Rose Sonenclar is talented. Extremely talented. Who cares if her parents are rich or that she lives in west Chester ny.
She has the xfactor. She should have won, thats my opinion. Tate Stevens sucks!!! Sorry Tate fans. If there are any.

You know…Carly has done just fine without our help. My guess is that she will continue to do just fine. I’m behind her all the way!

My god! What does being from Westchester have anything to do with getting a record deal? I am so annoyed at people who think that Carly does not deserve success because she’s “rich”.

It’s taking way too long for Carly’s co-label. I get the sense maybe they are having a hard time finding one. But then again, Beatrice Miller was signed to a recording contract and is moving to L.A. my guess is record labels are hesitating to sign Carly because she lacks charisma and has no personality. and she’s from westchester, ny. not exactly brooklynn or the bronx. she might as well say she’s from the upper east side. aka rich.

I like Carly Rose. I just don’t know if she realizes she has to be more accessible to fans or maybe move out to L.A. Diamond and 5H are at the kids choice awards now because they relocated to L.A., even if some of them did move temporarily. Going to regular school won’t cut it so maybe they have to think about that. I feel bad for Carly because she sort of lost whatever she had during the xfactor. and yes she was the most talented on the show but Simon is thinking about right now profits and I’m not sure Carly is all that marketable here in the states. she has a large following in Brazil and among the older people who see her as someone who can bring back jazz and soul into popularity. She’s 13, almost 14. she may want to embrace her age and sing more bubblegum pop to get a large following. Simon made Emblem 3 more pop, and I suspect he’ll do the same with Carly because there is no teen girl dominating the charts. If she released a bubblegum pop album I would buy. I’m sorry if I’m not into soul music, maybe I’ll like it later. Adele is enough soul/pop for me, for now.

I really enjoy listening to Fifth Harmony and Carly Rose. Their voices, their looks, their personalities are all so refreshing. I couldn’t care less about some old has been cowboy who couldn’t make it on his own after years of trying and then had to rely on some sob story and condescending remarks about “the kids” to get the win. And apparently no one else cares about him either, based on his pathetic Youtube counts compared to Fifth Harmony and Carly Rose. Go girls!

Always a fan of Carly, absolutely mind blowing phenomenal. Loved how she began the song with a little jazz flare to it then exploded in to a pop soul song and the vocal so many years beyond her age, but we already knew that about her. When 5th Harmony did Impossible, it was a “goose-bump” type of performance. They lost a little bit of that in the X Factor, lacked harmonies, but there last two covers has me convinced, if they can keep up that level of inredible vocals, they’ll be better than people initially thought they would be…well done ladies.

I can’t stand emblem three. Their first single sucks. I’m glad Fifth harmony is going to the kids choice awards and getting more publicity. They deserve it. I really hope they tour with 1D. Btw it sux that E3 was forced to sound more pop than they probably wanted. That happens at syco label. Simon probably figures that having E3 sound one direction-y will mean more $. But most people find E3 annoying. 5H has always embraced an upbeat pop sound.

Wow, Carly’s musical and vocal ranges are just incredible. Her interpretations of songs are absolutely inspired and her performances are demonic (in a good way!).

WOW! I wasn’t a huge fan of Carly on the X-Factor, I was pulling for Fifth Harmony but that ROCKED. Great job Carly! Fifth Harmony’s cover is awesome as well. I really think Carly and Fifth Harmony will be the shining stars coming out of X-Factor Season 2.
