TNT’s ‘Dallas’ season 2 spoilers: Is Sue Ellen in trouble now?
If you think back to the funeral episode of “Dallas” that aired on Monday night, there is likely one moment in particular that stands out: Sue Ellen opting to take a swag of some of J.R. Ewing’s bourbon while she was dealing with the emotional weight of the man’s passing. This was a difficult episode for just about everyone involved, but this particular moment does inevitably lead to the question being asked: was this mean to be an omen for a dark future ahead for the character? While it may be tempting to say something like that, it also may be a little bit premature.
Speaking in a new interview with TV Guide, Linda Gray explains that we are not going to see this character sputter out of control; as a matter of fact, she is only going to get stronger from here on out:
“She has to take a little pause to reflect [but] she keeps going … She’s very strong. In the original episodes, she was rather a victim. When J.R. did something, she would react. Now she’s like, ‘I’m stepping up. I’m in control. I know all the tricks of the oil business.’ Look out world, here she comes.”
“Dallas” does have a rather interesting story to touch on for the rest of the season, as Bobby and John Ross have to lead the way in order to figure out just why in the world J.R. was shot while hunting down a ghost from his past in Mexico. We anticipate there being plenty of surprises along the way, even though Victoria Principal has already made it clear that she is not going to be coming back on the show for more.
