‘Supernatural’ season 8 spoilers: Scoop on Jared Padalecki, Misha Collins
Update: In hilarious news, we learned just half an hour after publishing this that Collins has been upped to a series regular for season 9.
We know that it has felt like ages since Misha Collins has been on a new episode of “Supernatural,” and while we know that he will be returning as Castiel in the near future to the show, this does not really make the waiting process any easier. Will hearing some discussion about the character ease the pain? Possibly … at least until you hear what Jared Padalecki actually says about whether or not Sam would hypothetically banish Cas from the world for the greater good.
This question (asked by Zap2It to Padalecki) stems from the fact that in addition to the tablet Sam and Dean are hoping to use to shut away all demons from the world, there is also one that does the same thing to angels. So if Sam was informed of this, would he still make the move at Castiel’s expense? It sure sounds like it based on the answer:
“I absolutely think the boys would sacrifice Castiel to get rid of the angels … I think they are, not one-track minded, but goal-oriented enough to where you’ve seen them sacrifice themselves or others to try and accomplish a bigger objective … I feel like they would do it. I could be wrong, but I feel like they would do it.”
As for whether or not we will see this decision arise during this season, that is still a worth question. Depending on how they frame it the tablet could set up a nice endgame for the series, and we honestly don’t want to see the show get to the point where Castiel’s life could be in jeopardy (again) for a while. After all, there are only so many times you can bring a guy back before you start to even cause some viewers here to stop suspending belief
Do you think that Castiel could be in trouble before the end of this season? If you want to watch a promo for Wednesday night’s “Supernatural,” you can do so by heading on over to the link here.

Castiel used to be my favorite character. But now they’ve ruined him and the show to the point that I can’t even watch it any more. Secondary characters are great, they bring something essential to the show. But when their time is up, it’s up. To keep them around when it makes no sense to the story does no justice to the character. Cas used to be this bad ass angel who demanded respect and now he’s a damn joke.
FAN SERVICE IS NOT A METHOD OF STORYTELLING.
No matter how much you love someone, it’s better to say goodbye than to see them turned into a caricature of what they used to be.

LOL haters go cry in a corner, CAS IS BACK!!! I’m so happy for Misha/Cas! And actually, so are the other 95% of the Supernatural fans! So yeah, there’s nothing special about Cas, not at all!!!

Yay! The best thing that ever happens to SPN was Castiel, he brought south to the show especially his friendship with Dean, those two are golden together, a perfect harmony and every episode without him just doesn’t feel right. Castiel is just awesome, amazing and is an essential member of TFW! Finally Misha/Castiel is back as a regular because he is an outstanding character:)

@allessandra…so, Dean didn’t have a GREAT story showing his time in purgatory with excellent flashback moments? he also didn’t have a vampirate episode or LARPing episode or any other episodes, the entire season has been about Sam? sheesh…i’m much more of a Dean girl but the constant bickering over who has a better story line has gotten so old…it’s about brothers — so they’re BOTH going to have episodes…how can anyone be a fan of the show but NOT be a fan of the Winchesters together…

So, remind me again who Jensen Ackles is? I thought for a while he was also a lead character on this show, but so far, all I’ve seen him is as supporting cast while Collins and Padalecki and heck even the kid playing Kevin get more attention and stories than Dean does.

God keeps bringing back cas so it would be nice to find out why he does. You still kinda need a 3rd person on the show. Locking the angels away wouldn’t really keep cas away for the due fact he can take is grace out and be human

I’m so happy to see more Cas! I love the humor that he brings, and the intensity. It’s so good to see Sam and Dean actually have a friend.

So happy Cas is going to be back! I love Sam and Dean, but they need other people in their life to help them out, and Cas obviously cares about the brothers and they care about him.

I agree about Cas. It’s really annoying that he’s going to be a regular, the fanservice is really irritating. It makes no sense to have him around. It’s so forced.

I hope so. He is so far past due to be gone from this show it’s not even funny. These last four episodes have been the best of this season. You know why? NO CASTIEL! His story line is so ridiculous at this point as to be laughable. They just keep recycling the same crap over and over. He serves literally no purpose at this point outside of fan service and it’s disgusting.
