‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 4 spoilers: ‘The Originals’ get their own witches
Since “The Vampire Diaries” already has Bonnie Bennett, there would be a serious lack of witches on the upcoming backdoor pilot “The Originals” set to air on April 25 if it were not for the news we are about to share.
Following the revelation that Daniel Gillies is set to join Joseph Morgan, Phoebe Tonkin, and possibly Claire Holt on the potential series, E! News is reporting that the show is in the process at the moment of casting a pair of witches named Sophie and Davina. In the case of the former, we have a woman who has strong leadership skills, and is currently also trying to restart her magical abilities. Meanwhile, Davina has more in the way of secrets to share, and has never really been forced to lead thanks to living a fairly protected life.
These two faces join the other new characters we have already heard about, which include a former protegee of Klaus’ named Marcel and Camille, a young Tulane psychology student who has no knowledge of the vampire world until she, like Elena, ends up getting dragged into this mess.
The way “The Originals” will work is that if The CW likes what they see from the pilot (which seems likely, given the high ratings of the flagship show), they will make the decision to order the show for an initial 13 episodes as early as when the episode is filmed, and as late as their upfront presentation in May. If the show is picked up, we presume that it will be handed the 9:00 p.m. Eastern timeslot directly following “The Vampire Diaries,” which gives “The Originals” a chance to be the first show in a few years to really hold on to most of the flagship series’ lead-in.
Overall, do you like how this pilot is coming together at the moment? Be sure to share some more of your thoughts below!
