NBC’s ‘Smash’ season 2 spoilers: The ghost of Ellis rears his head
Okay, so Ellis is not really dead on “Smash” season 2; but even though we are not going to be seeing this character make an appearance in the flesh, the man is still going to find a way to make his presence felt … and we can assure you that this is not going to lead to good things for any of the other characters.
According to a new report from Entertainment Weekly, the name of Broadway’s Voldemort (as he shall be called, since we fear to utter his real name more than we already have) will be mentioned in the third episode of the season, and somehow there will be a chain reaction as a result that causes many fans to clench their fists in rage. Our guess? That before skipping town to go ruin the lives of some other people, Ellis must have figured out a way to stick it to Julia and the entire “Bombshell” production yet again.
When Ellis surfaced on the show last year, it did not take him very long to become the Jar Jar Binks of the “Smash” universe. While there are some characters that people love to root against (Joffrey on “Game of Thrones,” Lassiter on “Psych”), there are also those that you just hate for the sake of hating them. Ellis tragically fell into that camp, and Josh Safran was quick to kick the character to the curb as soon as Theresa Rebeck stepped down as showrunner. However, there was still a little bit of work to be done obviously with the role, and this could be a way to tie together some of those loose ends.
The premiere of “Smash” season 2 on February 5 is luckily only a few weeks away, so be sure to keep checking back here for some more of the latest news on the show. For now, be sure to click here to watch the season premiere (if you have not already, of course).
