‘Ink Master’ season 2 finale: Steve Tefft’s win draws big numbers
Spike TV has to be rather thrilled with the performance of their two-hour season finale of “Ink Master.” After all, the show not only drew some of its best numbers of the season for its live results at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time, but it actually was the top new program on all of cable TV Tuesday night.
Over the course of the two hours (which included one standard episode focusing on the elimination of Tatu Baby), the show drew a 1.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic along with close to 2.2 million viewers. The ratings were slightly lower than this for the first episode, and then rose to a 1.3 with 2.36 million eyeballs for the final hour of the block, which featured Steve Tefft being declared the champion over Sarah Miller.
So what do these numbers ultimately mean? More than anything else, they show just how much potential the network can have with this show moving forward. “Ink Master” managed to put up great numbers for the entire season, and they did so even when competing against some solid competition including a show with a similar audience in “Sons of Anarchy” (for most of the season), and some semi-popular network fare including “Private Practice” on ABC and “Parenthood” on NBC. If it does this well in fall, then it proves that Spike could feasibly program this show in just about any timeslot that they want and it could still end up doing reasonably well. There’s now announced premiere date for the new season, but we can guarantee that it will be on the air in 2013.
How excited are you now for “Ink Master” season 3, especially since Tatu Baby is going to be a part of it? If you want to read more from the finale, be sure to do so over at the link here.

What a poor planned last episode! The whole episode was full of tech mistakes. It was so hard to see the complete tattoos. They should fire the tech crew or send them back to school.

Can’t believe I watch the whole freaking season and the only day I decide to left it recording I missed the very end of it. I always liked Steve’s but I think Sarah even with her crazy moments can pull out better tattoos. Tattoo Baby absolutely deserve the second chance and I agree she should have been on Sebastian’s place. I dont know how in the world he got that far…

Had to come here to the website to find out who the winner was even though I was pretty sure it was going to be Steve (no surprise there). Show over ran by way too many commercials I think, cut off by 5 to 10 minutes in the recording.

Live show ran late and those of us who dvr’d the result show were left wondering who won. It shut off after tatu baby won a second showing.she deserves it but she deserved to be in Sebastian’s spot .she wAs robbed of a chance to win $100,000.

I know this happened to a lot of people but the episode ended with 10 or 15 minutes to go. Not sure if it was the DVR or poor planning from the network.
