NCIS season 17 episode 5 spoilers: Dr. Grace Confalone returns

NCIS season 17 episode 5 carries with it the title of “Wide Awake,” and it’s going to give you a chance to see a familiar face back in action! Back when we interviewed executive producers Steven D. Binder and Frank Cardea prior to the premiere airing, it was then clear that Laura San Giacomo would be back as Dr. Grace Confalone. Now, we’ve got a good sense of when she’ll be around!

So why does Dr. Confalone matter so much in terms of the story in its current form? That is tied very much to the work that she did getting Gibbs to accept the idea that he was changing; meanwhile, Sloane also confided in her that she is harboring some feelings towards someone. It remains to be seen if that someone is Gibbs, but there have been enough signs on the show to suggest that it could be with the embraces, the hand holding, and the almost kiss in Gibbs basement. “Wide Awake” – NCIS investigates Marine Corporal Laney Alimonte (Camryn Grimes) after evidence suggests she murdered her neighbor while being treated for insomnia by a hypnotherapist. Also, Gibbs befriends his new neighbors after the 9-year-old’s baseball crashes through his window, on NCIS, Tuesday, Oct. 22 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Laura San Giacomo guest stars as Doctor Grace Confalone.

For those wondering, this is not Grimes’ first appearance within the NCIS franchise, as she played a different character on NCIS: Los Angeles years ago. This is fairly commonplace within the world of these shows — if they find good talent, why not use them again so long as it isn’t too noticeable? This episode should be an interesting one, especially when it comes to Gibbs getting to show off more of his friendly side … something he doesn’t always get a chance to do.
