Supernatural season 15: Jensen Ackles says ending will ‘feel right’

It’s no secret to anyone out there that Supernatural season 15 is going to be the final one for the series at The CW, and there is no bigger challenge that the show has faced than finding the right way to end it. There is nothing that happens more with an end of a show then people being upset over series finales, and we have to expect that some of that will happen here too since you can’t please everyone.

In so many ways, we get it — Supernatural is a show where everyone has their own idea of how it will end. For us, we’re fine with the idea of Sam and Dean saving the day, and then getting a call about a new band of monsters in the closing seconds that they need to take out. There’s something nice about knowing that they would still be out there, doing what they do best, long after this show comes to a close.

No matter the ending, Jensen Ackles feels at least confident that it will do the story to date justice. While at TCA, he had the following to say on the subject via Entertainment Weekly:

 “I want it to end in a way that does justice to what we’ve built for the past 14½ years. The game plan that we have is going to do just that … This is certainly going to feel right and it’s going to feel good. It should put a lot of people in a position to feel great about the journey they took with the Winchester brothers.”

This is a lovely sentiment from Jensen, but we’d also argue that the journey already feels great. For a show like this, it’s more about the road we’ve traveled on than necessarily how it ends. That’s how we’ve come to feel in retrospect about a controversial series finale in How I Met Your Mother. It turned out to not meet many viewers’ expectations (including our own), but it doesn’t take away from the hours upon hours of great entertainment we got along the way.
