Claws season 3 episode 9 promo: Who lives and who dies

Through “Melba Toast,” you’re going to be seeing Desna face a reasonably-impossible situation due to the triads’ orders. Following the death of Mac, there’s no way that Melba can stay alive. She’s going to be too angry and too emotional for her to ever be trusted again. Therefore, Desna has an opportunity to kill Melba herself, since that’s a way of showing to the triads that they can trust her. If she doesn’t want to do it, odds are the triads will go ahead and kill the both of them and then find a way to move forward from here.
What Claws is sort of giving us at the moment is a nesting-doll hierarchy of characters. We’ve got one big bad, but on the other side of that, we’ve got another big bad. There always seems to be someone higher up on the food chain that Desna has to deal with and what seems so tough about the triads is that it’s hard to fathom how Desna can fend these people off. We’re no longer talking about characters who can be thwarted via unconventional means. These are smart, dangerous, and capable people with all of the resources and skills in the world.
By the end of this season (which is only two episodes away), we’ll get a better sense of the lay of the land — but we wouldn’t be surprised if the triad is still around. It’d be a tad unusual to bring on board a group this dangerous only to then make them disappear a few episodes after the fact. We don’t foresee Desna defeating them so quickly, so her only other alternative may be pivoting and working to move in another direction.
Oh, and here’s one more twist in the episode — the end of the promo seems to feature Dean walking in while Desna has her gun pointed on someone else. If Dean sees her trying to kill Melba, what does that mean for their relationship moving forward?
