Is Henry Ian Cusick leaving The 100, Kane character for good?
Let’s start with this — what happened on the series itself. After seeing Kane inhabit another body, it does throw the future of Cusick into question. There have been rumors regarding the Lost actor being a part of the series long-term for a while now — though these questions almost minimize his contributions to date. While Henry may not always dominate in terms of air time, this is someone who has been a part of a solid 80 episodes. His impact on the show is immeasurable, and there are a lot of Kane/Abby fans out there in particular.
Earlier today, it was announced that Cusick will be joining MacGyver season 4 in the role of Russ, and this is the most decisive evidence we’ve seen so far that his role playing Kane may be pretty much done. He’s already taken another gig in The Passage over the past year, and doing another one means that it’d be borderline impossible to have much of a role on The 100 season 7. Maybe he could make an appearance or two and that’s about it.
Cusick has yet to confirm his exit from The 100 — he’s promised that he will live-tweet the next new episode (read more about it over here), so maybe his future will be addressed at that point. If it’s the end, we’ll miss him — but we’re happy that he’s getting so many more great career opportunities. MacGyver does have a larger viewership and with this new role over there being a lead (read more about that here), he’ll get an opportunity to shine through just about every story.
If you’re wondering when the next new episode of The 100 is going to air, you’re going to have to wait to see it back on the air. Tuesday, July 9 till be back as the series is taking a week off for the Fourth of July holiday. Networks get a little bit antsy airing anything altogether close to that day. Our final verdict here is this: Cusick is almost certainly leaving The 100 as a major part of the story, but he could still find a way to turn up here and there.
