Poldark season 5: Eleanor Tomlinson, more talk favorite moments, reflect

Eleanor Tomlinson

Prepare yourselves, Poldark fans — the wait for more of the series is just about over in the UK. While there is still no confirmed premiere date for the final season just yet, we do expect it to air sometime in July and we come now bearing further details as to what’s coming up!

Below, you can see a series of BBC One interviews and notable moments from the show’s big Cornwall premiere last night, including Eleanor Tomlinson describing one of her favorite moments of the entire series and also what everyone is going to miss about not being a part of this world anymore.

This is a job for all of these people, yet we also know that this is more than just a job. It means so much more to them. It changed careers and altered perceptions while also creating some wonderful friendships! Tomlinson was certainly not a household name prior to playing Demelza Carne and from here she has opportunities like War of the Worlds. Aidan Turner, who was not in attendance last night, has been linked to all sorts of high-profile gigs. Many of those rumors (including James Bond) are unsubstantiated, but it’s still flattering to see him mentioned in the same breath as one of film’s biggest heroes.

There weren’t too many spoilers for the fifth season handed down during the premiere event, with the focus being more so on just sharing some memories of the past several years while people also expressed what the show meant to them. Cornwall is the central setting for the series, so coming back for a premiere event really meant something. This is a reason that has been clearly changed because of the show — Poldark has done to the area what Outlander has done to Scotland. In general, the UK has benefited tremendously from these two productions over the past few years — throw in there Northern Ireland via Game of Thrones and it’s all the more impressive. There are familiar locales in Cornwall, especially some of the beaches, that will be visited for many years to come thanks to what we saw on the show. They’ve benefited the most from Poldark, so it makes sense that they are there to help send them off into the sunset.

Before we conclude, let’s share one final message via Tomlinson on what working on this series has meant to her over time:

“It’s so humbling. It’s absolutely wonderful … The support they’ve shown us for five years, five seasons. It’s amazing.”

Once there is further news on Poldark and the final season, we’ll have it for you here. We recognize that there is the smallest chance at a season 6 years down the road, given there’s still source material that is out there from the Winston Graham source material.
