God Friended Me, NCIS: Los Angeles ratings hold on vs. Golden Globes
Last night’s new episodes of God Friended Me and NCIS: Los Angeles each generated a 0.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic, which we would say is better than expected all things considered. This showed that both shows could easily keep their audiences as we move into the spring without the NFL helping them out. We’d say that the big winner here is God Friended Me because it has been subject to some of the bigger swings of the year thanks to the NFL lead-ins that it’s had for a big chunk of the fall.
For the time being, we remain reasonably hopeful that both God Friended Me and NCIS: Los Angeles will be renewed, given that we’re talking about two shows that are at least around the middle of how some of CBS’ shows are faring. In particular, we think that the positive message of God Friended Me is something that appeals to people out there.
(For those wondering, Madam Secretary did take a big fall with the second part of its “Family Separation” event with a 0.6 rating — not that this should be much of a surprise, given the fact that it aired back in its timeslot last night.)
As for the performance of the Golden Globes itself, the awards-show drew a 4.5 rating in early ratings on the night — just remember that due to this being live and it running late, there is potential for more fluctuations here than almost anything else on the schedule from last night. It’s clear that NBC should be happy regardless, especially given that they had such a big NFL support base leading into it via a playoff game.
