SEAL Team season 2 episode 11 review: Is Clay moving on? The plane mission

SEAL Team season 2

SEAL Team season 2 episode 11 had quite a bit that it set out to accomplish in a limited amount of time. It picked up where some of the stories left off, and it also gave you an exciting mission that focused on a plane rescue that was a little bit different than the ones we’ve seen.

This episode was, by and large, not a case of the SEAL Team trying to save passengers tens of thousands of feet in the air. Instead, what we were looking at here was a case of a airplane hijacking that led to a hostage situation on the ground. Terrorists overtook a plan mid-air and they planned to keep all of the passengers until they got precisely what they wanted — the freeing of some of their people all over the world.

In order to successfully free some of the passengers in danger it was clear that this was going to be a team effort. This was about tactics, about planning, and about making sure that the terrorists on board the plan could be taken down once and for all.

We’ve always given SEAL Team some credit for trying to give you as realistic an experience as possible and, with that, we certainly think they did that in devising the right way to free these passengers. This wasn’t an extensive action sequence to free them; it was instead just a couple of minutes. Most of the episode was about coming up with a proper plan and Bravo Team finding a way to work with the right people overseas to make that happen.

Beyond the mission

At the start of the episode, Clay was struggling to do whatever he could in order to cope with everything breaking down with Stella — it wasn’t easy for him and unfortunately, we don’t think that it is going to be any easier for him coming up in the future. At the end of the episode, Clay did meet someone at a bar in Marci — we don’t exactly know if there’s a future there (beyond the two sleeping together), but we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more story there.

Meanwhile, is there a future at the moment for Sonny and Davis? We do think that there’s chemistry here, but understandably Davis is worried. There are ramifications that often come with getting into a relationship in this setting, and that is something that they will have to contend with. Sonny tried to pay Davis a visit at the end of the episode and at first, she seemed uninterested in letting him in. Luckily for him, she changed his mind.

CarterMatt Verdict

We got some nice stuff there with Jason’s family and, beyond that, we got a good, intense case. This was as good of a SEAL Team standalone mission as we’re going to get and, by and large, it was a great way to kick off the new year with the show.
