Supernatural season 14, Legacies season 1 ratings slide slightly heading into holidays

Let’s take a look at these shows and their numbers one show at a time. First, Supernatural ended up drawing a 0.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic, which is a slight decline from the week before. Yet, there’s really nothing to worry about here given that we are still talking about one of the network’s most-iconic shows and one that hasn’t been in danger for a rather long time. We’ve said it before, and we do think that it bears repeating every now and then: Supernatural is more than likely the sort of show that will go on for however long the cast and crew want it to. There’s no reason to think that it’s going to be concluding, and we also don’t want it to for quite some time moving forward.
After all, wasn’t the big twist at the end of last night’s episode with Dean and Michael proof enough that sometimes, this show does have a way of taking you by surprise when you least it expect it?
As for Legacies…
Last night’s fall finale also slid slightly to a 0.3 rating in the demo, but we also don’t think that there is all that much to worry about here, either. Its total-viewers numbers are very strong, the series has performed really well in digital viewing this season, and there is global marketability here because of the larger Vampire Diaries / The Originals brand. Even though its ratings have not necessarily been off the charts this fall, they’ve certainly been solid enough and Legacies creatively has been one of the fall’s more pleasant surprises. It’s managed to shed some of the darkness that was there with The Originals, while still paying homage to it.
These two shows are going to be returning to The CW in January (check out a preview for the next Legacies episode over here) and we’re certainly intrigued to share more coverage of that in the weeks ahead. Given that January is a month where many shows fare well in the ratings — there’s certainly less competition from people going outside and doing other things — we have expectations that Legacies and Supernatural can at least hold their audience.
