Well, tonight’s episode was a ghost story, and a pretty serious one given all of the familiar names that were conjured up throughout. It certainly would have been nice to get some more story on the other side of it, but unfortunately, it’s pretty clear that we’re going to be waiting for a while. How long? Think in terms of Thursday, January 24. That’s when Legacies is going to return with the second part of its season, and hopefully even more crazy twists and turns.
What Legacies has done such a great job at for most of the season so far is finding a way to really balance things out story-wise. You’ve gotten from one vantage point a lot of creepy, fascinating subject matter. Yet, simultaneously there have also been some really fun, creative storytelling. There is some humor that is also wedged in here and somehow, someway, Julie Plec and the rest of the producing team have found a way to make almost all of it work.
As the season goes along, we do think that we’re going to see the show move in more of a creepy, dramatic direction. This is, after all, precisely what happens when you get a chance to see a show play out for a full season.

Based on some of the content that is present within here, over the course of the upcoming episode we’re going to have a chance to see a story that is dark and also geared around one Landon Kirby — is there a way that Hope can rescue him? We’ve got a greater sense of the stakes moving into the second half of the season, especially when it comes to Malivore, who is lurking somewhere deep underneath the surface and could come out if the right combination of events happen. There are a lot of scenarios in which things could take a turn for the worse here, but we actually do think Landon will prove to be an asset by the time we get a few more episodes into the show’s run.
What’s the problem here? Well, that’s rather simple: Actually getting to the point where some more episodes come back on the air. A month-plus is a rather long time to wait.
