America’s Got Talent: The Champions premiere date official at NBC
Today, the network confirmed that the off-shoot, which features some of the greatest talent from all over the world, is going to be back on the air come Monday, January 7, where it will fill the off-season void left by The Voice and air completely opposite another reality TV titan in The Bachelor. Simon Cowell, Mel B, Howie Mandel, and Heidi Klum will be back as the judges, while Terry Crews is going to host, taking over (at least temporarily) from Tyra Banks, who hosts the summer cycle of the series.
Filming for The Champions has been taking place over the past few weeks, and this is going to feature notable acts both from the US version of the franchise as well as notable ones from some other parts of the world. Recently, we made a video spotlighting some of the notable Britain’s Got Talent acts who should appear at some point in the future — if you like these picks, just be sure to subscribe to CarterMatt on YouTube for more coverage.
As for whether or not we will see The Champions become a yearly tradition, we’re going to have to wait and see how the ratings fare. It does feel a little tough to do this every year given how some of the best-ever acts are presumably all competing this time around. Why hold on to some of your good stuff given that you don’t know for sure what’s coming down the road? We’re incredibly excited for this show, even if it doesn’t seem to have the same format as other versions given that there are not any live shows for it in the same way that we tend to see with the flagship show over the summer.
