Suits spin-off casts Wynonna Earp actress, more in new roles

The Suits spin-off has been in development for a good while now, but we’re finally gearing up for production to kick off.

With that in mind, we’ve got even more of a sense as to who is going to be appearing, and that includes a familiar face for Wynonna Earp fans in Chantel Riley. After playing Kate for most of this season, Riley will be returning (per Deadline) to the spin-off as a series regular after appearing first in the backdoor pilot, which served as the season 7 finale. Her character Angela is described as follows:

A certified Nursing Assistant and Jessica’s cousin, Angela is suspicious of Jessica’s sudden altruism. She is preoccupied with taking care of her two sons, protecting her mother and staying connected to her community.

Bethany Joy Lenz – Lenz is replacing Rebecca Rittenhouse in the role of Keri, described as a “driven, ambitious city attorney serving as unofficial right hand to the mayor.”

Isabel Arraiza – The actress (who appeared on The Oath) is portraying “Yoli Castillo, Jessica’s passionate assistant who will learn from the best how to most effectively channel her intensity.

Eli Goree – Finally, the former Riverdale actor is going to be appearing as Derrick Mayes, Mayor Bobby Golec’s “young press secretary and a former journalist, Derrick got into politics to make a difference but struggles with the reality of what it takes to do so.”

The Suits spin-off is going to be filming in Los Angeles, which is mostly notable in that it’s actually set in Chicago. Meanwhile, the flagship show films in Toronto, which means that there’s not going to be a lot of potential for crossovers. Still, this show (which looks to navigate Chicago politics) should be very much interesting.
