Kenan Thompson on his Saturday Night Live future, other aspirations

Kenan Thompson

Kenan Thompson is the longest-tenured cast member in the history of Saturday Night Liveand when you look at his current, it offers a good argument as to why sketch performers shouldn’t be in a hurry to leave. He’s been exceptional as a cast member for years, but it really feels like over the past few seasons, he’s started to come even more into his own. He’s started to get some more critical acclaim for his performance and that has led to his first Emmy nomination as a supporting actor earlier this year.

So, in the wake of all of this acclaim, does Kenan think about leaving the show? While every cast member does on some level, it does also feel as though he is content with his time on the show and his legacy. Basically, it does not appear as though he is altogether in some sort of enormous hurry to leave and move on to other things.

Speaking in a new interview with Deadline, here is some of what Kenan had to say then it comes to the series and also how he feels about it at the moment:

They’re like my big giant family. It’s spending quality time and doing quality work with quality people. If it was possible I’d stay forever and just retire as the one guy that never left, basically. I’d be totally fine with that, but at the same time I still have aspirations.

Thompson also said that he would love to do more producing in the future, and that is something else that could be open to him if he ever decides to leave. We’re sure that at some point, it’s something that could happen … it’s just not something that we really want to think about for obvious reasons.
