Gotham season 5: More evidence of Bane appearance mounts
Recently, we reported that the Fox series was casting a character who, at least in the comics, was the character’s father. Now, we’ve got even more on that subject.
According to SpoilerTV, the title for the seventh episode of the season is “I Am Bane.” How do you get more specific than that as to what’s coming? If that is any indicator, a young version of this character will be coming on board this season at some point … it’s either that or his father is becoming the character. This could be an interesting addition to the series, but we do still have to raise the inevitable question: How much room is there for this character at this point? There are only ten episodes coming in season 5, per reports, and that doesn’t give the series a lot of time in order to devote to any particular person.
Yet, Bane is such a fascinating character if the show opts for more of a The Dark Knight Rises approach to the character rather than just making him a hulking monster. He is someone who really tests the limits of what a person can be and the pitfalls that come with power. It’s certainly going to be a huge test for Bruce Wayne to get an essence of this character on the way to becoming Batman, which we hope is going to happen at some point by the series finale.
Now, remember all of the other villains who are still out there — the Penguin, the Riddler, Jeremiah, Firefly, Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy, and many more. Basically, it feels like regardless of where Bruce turns moving forward on the series, there could be a problem on the other side.
Expect to see Gotham season 5 premiere at some point in 2019 — and for there to be some more announcements along the way.
