Animal Kingdom season 3 episode 12 preview: The quest to bring Pope back

What’s coming up on Animal Kingdom season 3 episode 12? We should start with this reminder: It’s the last before the finale. Things are going to be especially intense, and we say that given what we learned (supposedly) about Smurf and Baz tonight. Learning that she is responsible for Baz’s death is going to be the sort of thing that makes the whole family scurry off in different directions — and understandably so. If there’s one thing that we’ve learned about Pope over the years, it’s that he has a tendency to hold grudges. We already saw how he treated Billy, so how do you think he’s going to feel about everything that’s been going on with Smurf? Things are going to get crazy, and we don’t think that Lucy is out of this picture just yet — how could she be?

Below, the Animal Kingdom season 3 episode 12 synopsis offers up a little bit more information when it comes to what lies ahead:

The Cody family picks up the pieces from their showdown with Lucy (Carolina Guerra). Smurf (Ellen Barkin) is determined to reel Pope (Shawn Hatosy) back into the fold at any cost. Meanwhile, J (Finn Cole) goes to extreme lengths to protect a secret.

This is the episode that is really going to shape what happens in the finale, and we of course have questions already surrounding whether or not we could see another character leave. Just remember that this season has already brought us the demise of Baz and also the departure of Nicky … let alone the arrival and departure of Billy. We’re not putting anything past the writers at this point since they haven’t exactly hesitated when it comes to losing characters.
