American Horror Story renewed through season 10 at FX
What’s rather crazy about this particular renewal is that the process apparently went something like this: Ryan Murphy wanted another season, asked for it, and got it. This is apparently what happens when you are one of the biggest producers in television. FX Networks head John Landgraf confirmed that today in a new interview with Deadline, while also saying that he wasn’t sure if season 10 will be the last one for the anthology series:
” I don’t know … A lot of that comes down to Ryan and whether he still feels inspired about it. I think the eighth cycle, which is currently in production, is awesome and crazy, and I think the fans will really like it. Part of what’s cool About American Horror Story is its anthology nature. So it comes down to whether Ryan and his collaborators like (showrunner) Tim Minear could come up with stories that they are excited about.”
Really we do think that this is a series that could last forever, depending of course on what Ryan and many of the people within his production team are interested in doing. For example, we could see the show continuing for many years if they just continued to swap out cast members and producers. Murphy does have a new deal at Netflix that could be limited some of his involvement, but he’s shown adept over time at hiring some other producers who can come up with unique visions all their own that line up with Murphy’s thinking.
While we do think that American Horror Story has been somewhat hit-or-miss over the years, the upcoming eighth season (a crossover between the first season in Murder House and also the third in Coven) is one of the most ambitious and anticipated in some time. This season is officially titled American Horror Story: Apocalypse, and you can get some other news on the subject over here.
