Game of Thrones season 8: Maisie Williams joins Sophie Turner in tattoo club
Recently, we wrote about a tattoo that Sophie Turner (Sansa) got that was meant to be a rather fantastic tribute to House Stark. Now, today we come bearing the news that Maisie Williams also has gotten a tattoo of her own.
So, what does it say? Per her recent Instagram story, she is going to get one in red ink with “no one.” — a clear reference to Arya’s time within the House of Black and White. This is the training that has enabled her to be such a formidable fighter and presence within the world moving forward, and also in turn one of the most important players entering the final season. What’s so exciting about Arya is that she is a character who can really wear so many metaphorical (and actual) masks. She’s a utility player who can be valuable in the widest array of situations. It’s possible that we could see her make it to the other side of season 8, but we also do see her as someone who would be more than fine sacrificing herself for the sake of a worthy cause. She may never be able to feel fully whole again after all that she has gone through, but she may be cognizant that other people can get there.
What these tattoos really mean on a much larger level is that this is one of the most tight-knit casts out there, which is quite a marvel when you think about how all of them didn’t necessarily film together for an extended period of time. This is one of the most isolated productions out there in that for so many years, different characters were off in different parts of this world for years; yet, they did still find a way to come back together when the cameras were not rolling.
