Shadowhunters season 4: A new reason for greater hope
According to a new report coming in via Deadline, there are still active talks going on behind the scenes between multiple parties when it comes to ways in which to keep the show alive. The site also quotes executive producer Martin Moszkowicz from production company Constantin Film, who had the following to say:
“[We are] amazed by the dedication and persistence of the incredible fandom of Shadowhunters and the #SaveShadowhunters campaign. We are in ongoing discussions with the network and Netflix to how we can continue to bring Cassandra Claire’s vision to television.”
What is the network that Moszkowicz is speaking out here? More than likely Freeform, just because that is the only network that has had to show to date and it’s hard to really foresee him referring to “the network” so abstractly otherwise. It’s possible that there is a new deal being worked out in order to generate more revenue from a streaming service, while also still giving a network like Freeform first-run rights. This is an arrangement that we saw with Nashville, which was funded over the past couple of seasons via CMT and also Hulu.
Of course, as great as it is to hear that there are still talks to bring the show back, this is far from 100% confirmation that it will happen. If anything, this should be encouragement to keep fighting and doing everything that you can in order to make another season happens. We are absolutely still in a situation here where anything is possible and, at least at the moment, every voice matters. Don’t give up, as this is validation that all of your work is worthwhile.
As you would expect with news like this, we’ve got a video below where we spell out more why it is important to know that there are talks, even if it doesn’t offer any guarantees. Update: The Deadline piece has been updated, and the news now seems less good than it once was … but there’s still hope. Read more here.
