Save Shadowhunters officially arrives in Seoul subway system

Shadowhunters season 2 finale review

We made it clear yesterday that there was going to be a series of #SaveShadowhunters billboards coming soon to the Seoul subway system, and overnight, the first advertisement officially arrived!

You can see in the tweet below (via @HappyTimeMalec) a look at the first billboard (more are coming, with the next set for July 13). It’s a simple billboard with a simple message, but in a lot of ways that’s best. It makes it very clear as to what it is that the Shadowhunters fandom wants — also, it may encourage people to visit the hashtag to see what it’s all about. We think this is really useful for driving even more international attention to the series and, beyond that, hopefully this is going to get some people out there to wake up and realize that these particular fans are not going away. They’re going to keep fighting.

Shadowhunters has shown something over the past month or so that is almost unprecedented: The ability to mobilize and do a number of physical, tangible things all over the world. Getting the 11 million-plus tweets on social media is incredible, but then adding to this billboard and the airplane banner in Los Angeles takes everything to another level.

At the moment, we’re still not hearing any bubbling underneath the surface that Shadowhunters is going to be saved by anyone, but that’s fairly typical in these sort of situations. Efforts to revive a show behind the scenes are extremely hush-hush, largely because if the word got out early, there would be a lot of disappointment if something didn’t happen in the end. If something happens, much of the world could find out about it at collectively the same time … and it goes without saying that we’re crossing our fingers. After everyone has fought so hard for this show, it’s hard to imagine them not wanting to fight to make it successful wherever it ended up. We imagine there would be a push for viewership like never before.
