In this article, we shall check a casting type off the list that we suggested CBS should avoid: The Texan. Ironically, Haleigh Broucher actually fits into an extremely-overplayed subsection of the casting type: The Texan with Texas A&M connections. Does CBS have someone firmly planted at College Station at all times in order to ensure that they get every human being possible from there? She’s a 21-year old student and one of the youngest houseguest this season.

Houseguest comparison – We feel like CBS has been fishing for another Jordan Lloyd ever since season 11 and Haleigh has a little bit of that. She actually feels like she’s what CBS wanted Aaryn to be before … well, all that bad stuff.

Have they seen the show before? – Judging from the fact that she proclaims herself to be a fan of Derrick of all people, it may be new to her. She probably just watched season 16 in sequester. (She did call Derrick “cute,” which invalidates almost everything the Zingbot said about him.)

Fun facts – She’s still got an active Twitter feed for starters, one that shows that she’ll probably tweet about this season a ton when it’s over. She’s also originally from a town called Village Mills. You know how people say they’re from the middle of nowhere? Haleigh actually is. It’s such a small town it’s barely even on Google Streetview. She also raised a goat named Ringo when she was in the fourth grade for Future Farmers of America, which means that she could actually improve the image of goats from Texas Big Brother contestants.

On a more serious note, Haleigh actually has been through some stuff. She volunteers at a hospital for those who battle mental illness, as her father battles it himself. She’s also adopted, and first learned about that in the sixth grade.

Early assessment – Haleigh, at first glance, was someone we were bound to dislike since it feels like she’s the token Texas contestant designed to be labeled a “southern belle” and say homespun things in the diary room. Yet, there’s a little more to her than that, and while she’s probably not experienced in life enough to win (and we don’t think her being a psychology major is really going to help her), she’s probably a sure-fire member of the jury.
