Are Lethal Weapon season 3 odds improved by season 2 finale ratings?

Lethal Weapon season 3

What are the odds of a Lethal Weapon season 3 happening on Fox? That’s a difficult question to figure out right now just because of all of the different variables that are at play, but CarterMatt is going to try our best to break down what we know.

For now, though, let’s just say this: Based on the ratings from last night’s finale, there is at least a chance that there could be more of the series coming up. The Lethal Weapon season 2 finale ended up generating in total a 0.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic and slightly over 3 million viewers. These are increases from the week before, but they don’t change the fact that on average, season 2 was down more than 30% in both the demo and total viewers from the season that came before.

As for where Lethal Weapon goes from here, there are a number of other interesting conversations to be had with that. We think that the ratings alone do offer up a reason for Fox to cancel it if they so choose, but then you also add on top of that the apparent dismissal of Clayne Crawford from the series. (For more on that, take a look at the video below and subscribe to CarterMatt on YouTube for more.) Fox has to now find someone else to be a co-star for the series and we don’t think that this is going to be all that easy of a task.

We’re probably going to learn about the future of Lethal Weapon by early next week unless Fox really decides to commit to the recasting effort for a long enough time that this drags into the summer (which seems unlikely). They’re going to want to figure out their fall / midseason schedule sooner rather than later. The biggest shame is that all of these headlines do distract from a very entertaining show that is worthy of sticking around for a while.

Do you think that we are going to get a Lethal Weapon season 3 just based on the most-recent season 2 ratings? Be sure to share right now in the attached comments!
