Gotham season 4 episode 21 preview: Bullock takes the lead; the city falls

Gotham season 4 episode 21 is poised to be the second-to-last one of the season and based on some preliminary details, signs suggest that we are watching a city’s slow descent into anarchy. The villains have flexed their muscle but what is coming next goes so far beyond just this — we are bracing for a catastrophic event that will change Gotham forever in the finale. Regardless of whether or not the series is renewed for more episodes, this is going to be an event that gets people talking. (Granted, some of those conversations will be a little angrier than they would be otherwise if the series gets canceled.)

As Gotham falls into complete anarchy, a team of unlikely heroes step up to save it. Bullock takes the lead at the GCPD and Bruce’s psychological limits are tested as those close to him are put in danger in the all-new “A Dark Knight: One Bad Day” episode of GOTHAM airing Thursday, May 10 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. For anyone out there wondering Jeremiah is going to continue to have a major role in this episode, something that should, in turn, be a clear reminder that the worst is still to come with some of these characters. Watching Gotham can be a strange experience sometimes, largely because you want the heroes to win, but not to such an extent that they end up getting rid of the villains in turn. You have to have the bad guys around in order to make the show as compelling as possible, and that includes having a lot of the bad guys around to stir up chaos. Without villains, there is no eventual Batman.

Aside from anyone else, who wants to see Donal Logue have a big spotlight in this episode? It definitely feels at the moment like it’s time since we’ve been waiting for so long in order to see more of him on the show.
