The 100 season 5: Three ways to promote the series further
Based on what creator Jason Rothenberg said recently in a new post on Twitter, signs point towards this not being planned out as the final season. There is more story here to tell and the best way to ensure that this renewal happen is to start fighting for it now. With that in mind, we’ve come up with a few things that The CW / viewers can collectively do in order to ensure that there are some more great stories coming on The 100 in the weeks to come.
1. Continuing to give lengthy previews – While we don’t always think that The CW gives a robust-enough promotional campaign to The 100, they do a pretty good job of releasing enough video footage to both appeal to long-term fans and help potential new fans understand more of what is happening. That is something that they really should continue the rest of the season. Just as the story of the season is building when it comes to drama, do the same thing in terms of your promotional strategy.
2. Create an especially strong campaign for after The Flash is over – There are a few more weeks where The 100 is going to be the beneficiary of that lead-in, which is great given that The Flash is one of the best lead-ins out there on television. We do think, though, that The 100 should be the centerpiece of The CW’s summer schedule alongside Supergirl and The Originals — with that in mind, it should also be promoted like it is. Don’t let it fade in the eyes of the average viewer.
3. More custom hashtags – The season premiere of The 100 managed to trend on social media under the simple hashtag of #The100, but with Twitter’s algorithms being what they are it’s hard to have something trend from one week to the next. Come up with a different hashtag every week and use that to help push the show further.
