Jane the Virgin season 4 episode 16 preview: A future in doubt

Jane the Virgin season 4 episode 7 return date

Jane the Virgin season 4 episode 16 is more than just an ordinary installment of the CW series. It is also the penultimate one of the season. This is a chance to get an update on Xo’s condition, to learn if Jane and Rafael can turn things around after some recent struggles, and to see if Rogelio’s show situation is ever going to improve.

What we’re trying to relay here is simply this: There are many significant stories within this episode that need to inch towards a resolution. With the finale on the horizon and with the status beyond season 4 still unclear, Jane the Virgin’s writers need to figure out if they either want to tie things up or create some sort of cliffhanger, hoping that there is a chance to close the door on these stories in another season. (Remember, series star Gina Rodriguez has already hinted at the possibility that season 5 could be the show’s last.)

The Jane the Virgin season 4 episode 16 synopsis that CarterMatt has for you below offers up some additional details for what you can expect:

VISUALIZE THE FUTURE – Jane (Gina Rodriguez) and Rafael (Justin Baldoni) find themselves in a not ideal living situation in order to save money. When Rafael sees Alba (Ivonne Coll) try to punish Mateo, an unexpected rift is formed. Xo (Andrea Navedo) tries to stay positive during treatment and even makes a new friend, but things get a little too real for her and Rogelio (Jaime Camil). River (guest star Brooke Shields) and Rogelio once again are at odds over their ideas for the show, but an unlikely person helps River see the show in a different light. Meanwhile, Petra (Yael Grobglas) feels unsupported by JR (guest star Rosario Dawson) when she questions what really happened the night Anezka died. Micah Schraft directed the episode written by Micah Schraft (#416). Original airdate 4/13/2018.

One way or another, be prepared for a story that is going to test you emotionally and also the show itself in terms of its balance. If there is one bit of creative comfort that we have going into it, it’s the simple fact that Jane the Virgin already has itself a season 5 renewal. If it does turn out that this is the final year for the show, here’s to hoping that it’s a celebration of not only Jane, but everyone else in the cast. This show has been absolutely revolutionary for The CW and it deserves a proper salute.
