Supernatural season 13 video: Behind the scenes of ‘Scoobynatural’

Supernatural season 13 Scooby-Doo crossover

Leading up to the airing of the Supernatural season 13 episode entitled “Scoobynatural” on Thursday night, The CW has released another new preview — and this one may have all of us here at Cartermatt more excited than ever before to see what’s coming up.

In the video below, you can hear from stars Jared Padalecki, Misha Collins, Jensen Ackles (plus many of the show’s executive producers) talking about what makes this episode so special. There are a few different things in here that fans may not have known about.

1. The idea for the episode came from the Supernatural team – We wondered if this was something that Scooby-Doo brought to them, but that is not the case.

2. The Winchesters and Castiel are not out to corrupt the Scooby gang – With that in mind, don’t be shocked to see that the trio do their best in order to mask the fact that there are real ghosts involved in their mission. They don’t want the Scooby squad to start to think that the world of supernatural actually exists. This is confirmation that this is the Scooby canon from the early days of the cartoon, and not so much the one where there were real demons or other adversaries of a supernatural/monstrous nature.

3. There is a real sense of reverence among the cast for the show – While we knew already that Dean Winchester is a big fan of Scooby-Doo, we have now learned that Jensen Ackles effectively feels the same exact way about the character.

Ultimately, this may be the most excited that we’ve been for an episode of Supernatural for a rather long time — as a matter of fact, we also have a new video below explaining why we would be game for a live-action mashup of Scooby-Doo/Supernatural in the future on the other side of this episode.
