Madam Secretary season 4 episode 13 video: Alison’s emotional story

Madam Secretary season 4 episode 13 is entitled “Reading the Signs,” and based all evidence that we have (including the sneak peek below), much of this is going to be tied to the story of Alison.

In this sneak peek, you can see Alison talking about some of the struggles that she is having in college, in particular when it comes to the state of her deteriorating relationship with her roommate. At first the two were super-close, but their relationship has since broken down — mostly because of just how much time Lucinda wanted to spend with her. There are some unusual behavior patterns that she is exhibiting and Alison doesn’t quite know just what to do about it. She does like her, but she also needs a little more time away from her.

There are a couple of different things that could be going on here with Lucinda, but understandably, the advice Henry gives her is to just be kind and patient — things will probably get better, much like they did for a roommate that he had in college.

Unfortunately, things are not always this easy, which is something that Alison will encounter at some other point in the episode. The synopsis for this episode notes that at some point during this episode, Alison’s roommate will attempt to take her own life. That is what the title is likely looking at here — Alison may not have been able to detect the signs leading up to that moment, and it’s not altogether fair for her to blame herself, either. She’s just a student and not some sort of medical professional. We just hope that after the fact, this story becomes one of healing, understand, awareness, and eventually prevention. While there may be issues going on in this episode of international importance, sometimes the smaller, personal stories are of equal importance. This is one that we highly recommend checking out live, but be sure to have some tissues nearby. This one could end up being emotional.
