Nashville season 6 episode 5 preview: What follows shocking Juliette reveal?

Kaitlin Doubleday

Moving into Nashville season 6 episode 5, there is absolutely a little more darkness in the air than we expected before the big Juliette reveal. In what has to be one of the most terrible cases of timing ever (this revelation happened in the midst of a huge child sexual-assault trial involving USA Gymnastics), it was revealed that Juliette’s mother allowed a man named Uncle to abuse and assault her in exchange for chas.

That. Is. Horrifying. It wasn’t until Juliette was going through some of the rituals in the Movement that these memories came rushing back. She tried her best in order to repress that but now the floodgates are open. This is going to be a painful few stories ahead since it doesn’t seem like there is any way to go back from here.

Below, the Nashville season 6 episode 5 synopsis offers some other updates regarding what is coming up:

Deacon and Jessie’s relationship deepens; Darius invites Juliette to get more involved with the Movement while Avery voices his opinion; Gunnar, Will and Avery search for a female voice for the band; Jonah’s ex releases a song about Maddie…

This episode, on the surface, should give you a good sense of where many characters are at; with Juliette, she may just see the Movement as an escape. We know that she probably wants one and needs one given everything that she’s gone through. Even before we knew of this revelation tonight, we still believed that to be true.

While the Juliette story isn’t going away, it is important to still realize that this is Nashville. With that in mind, there are always going to be different dimensions and issues to be touched on in every episode. You’ll see potentially romance with Deacon and Jessie and then also plenty of chatter about music. Ultimately, though, Juliette may be the emotional through-line that stands out for at least the immediate future.
