Law & Order: SVU season 19 episode 11 carries with it the title of “Flight Risk” and based on most of what we’re hearing at present, seems to be one of the most compelling installments of the season. We absolutely know that, if nothing else, this is one that will generate a great deal of discussion because of the subject matter. It has been hyped up in the press already for being ripped in part from the Harvey Weinstein headlines, with one of the major differences here being that the story of Weinstein and the film industry is being substituted for what is going on in the airline industry. Some of the themes are still the same, but you are going to see them work in a different backdrop.

The idea here seems to be fairly clear: SVU season 19 episode 11 wants to touch on something important while also not at the same time giving you the same exactly set of circumstances that are in the headlines.

For more specifics, take a look at the SVU season 19 episode 11 synopsis below:

01/17/2018 (09:00PM – 10:00PM) (Wednesday) : When an airline pilot (guest star Yasmine Al Massri) accuses her captain (guest star Martin Donovan) of sexual assault, Barba (Raul Esparza) convenes a Grand Jury to determine their employer’s complicity in the crime. Meanwhile, Fin (Ice T) takes steps to ensure Benson (Mariska Hargitay) is protected at work. Also starring Kelli Giddish (Det. Amanda Rollins) and Peter Scanavino (Det. Sonny Carisi). Also guest starring Peter Gallagher (Chief Dodds), Ned Eisenberg (Roger Kressler), Reg Rogers (Carl Fleming), Roxanna Hope Radja (Alexis Sidnana), Anastasia Barzee (Jeanne Howell) and Ana Maria Jomolca (Ellen).

We feel as though the synopsis here does a good job of touching over what are the specific complications of the case, namely when it comes to the challenges that Barba is going through operating with a Grand Jury. Given that there are crimes happening here beyond just New York, this is a little more complicated than the standard case you tend to see the SVU team work on. There are a lot of variables and moving parts; hopefully, over the course of this episode you will have a better chance to see some of those and how they influence the overall case.

As for the Benson storyline, it makes sense that Fin would want to do his part to protect her more. It’s clear that she has many enemies, and she may also still be dealing with the aftermath of what just happened with Sheila.
