TV Underdogs: Can Duane Henry’s Clayton Reeves appear more on NCIS season 15?

Duane Henry

In today’s edition of TV Underdogs, we’re casting the focus in on NCIS season 15 — a season that, by and large, we’ve enjoyed quite a bit. Yet, we like to think that there’s always more that a show can do, and with NCIS it largely boils down to one thing: Can we get more of Duane Henry as Clayton Reeves?

Ever since his debut on NCIS, Henry has offered up much of what we’ve wanted from a newcomer to the team — he’s incredibly smart, but to go along with this he’s also savvy on the job and capable of taking anything that is thrown at him. He’s charming enough to be comic relief but also physical enough to be James Bond. There really isn’t anyone else on the entire series with his particular skill set.

Earlier this season, we did have a chance to learn some of the most information that we’ve had a chance to do about Reeves since his first appearance, including hist history in addiction. What made that story so interesting at the time we first learned about it was that it showcased some of his flaws. When you are an actor, dimension is really the thing that you crave more so than anything. You want to be able to showcase and highlight different sides and parts of yourself. This is a story that can be updated later, and really we’d welcome the writers taking advantage of an opportunity to do just that.

What else do we want to see from Reeves?

It’d be great to learn more about his backstory, his upbringing, and also the differences between his own time in law enforcement and what the NCIS have done as a team over the years. There are so many differences between how America and Britain view the law; there is room for some fascination discussion there.

To go along with that, we’d like to see him also form closer friendships to some of the other members of the team. While we don’t often see that much of the NCIs team away from work, we’d love to see what that would look like for Reeves to be more in social situations.

Finally, just give the man a chance to go out in the field on some solo missions or ones that could be really action-heavy! Take advantage of his physical capabilities like you do with Wilmer Valderrama — actually a Torres/Reeves duo mission in season 15 would be especially fun, largely because they have so many differences in how they take on the job; yet, they produce similar results at the end of the day.
