Criminal Minds season 13 spoilers: Who’s getting shot?
In the new photo below via TVLine, you can see none other than Matt Simmons (Daniel Henney) getting a bullet fired right at him in the midst of another violent confrontation involving an UnSub. The one bit of good news that we can share here is rather clear — Simmons is wearing a bulletproof vest. As a result of that, you can still breathe (reasonably) easy and assume that there is a way, somehow, that the character could make it out of this situation in one piece.
If he needs some sort of shoulder to lean on at the conclusion of this shooting, he will find plenty from his BAU colleagues. Just talk to JJ, Reid, Garcia, or many of the other characters on the show who’ve been shot at, tortured, tormented, or locked away. This show is a pretty good advertisement to not do work within the BAU, mostly because the vast majority of it seems unspeakably violent and like something terrible could happen to you at almost any point. Simmons came over from another dangerous in the International Response Team earlier this season — effectively, we’re looking at a case here of a guy getting thrown from the frying pan into a fire, and then an even larger fire with what is happening to him now.
For those who didn’t here, Lou Diamond Phillips of Longmire fame is also going to be appearing in this episode as a Sheriff. This episode will be bringing you a classic Criminal Minds, but hopefully a few new twists and turns along the way. Given that it is the first episode of the new year, we do think that there is an added sort of pressure for the show to try and kick things off with a bang if at all possible.
