Psych: The Movie teaser: Shawn, Gus, and false Ryan Gosling anticipation
The video below doesn’t technically give you any footage from the movie itself, but we do personally still find it very much delightful. It features James Roday and Dule Hill playing more or less meta versions of their characters Shawn Spencer and Burton Guster, otherwise known as Shawn Spencer and around a million or so different things.
The hilarity here comes from a wide array of different forms.
1. Shawn advertising that the movie is going to be in theaters and in 3D, even though neither one of these things is actually true.
2. Shawn also proclaiming that Ryan Gosling is in the movie, even though he’s not. This leads in turn to one of the show’s signature catch-phrases in “I’ve heard it both ways.” Perfect.
3. The pineapple mentions — also, the pineapple on the fireplace. We love pineapples, and we also very much believe that there are probably people out there who have sent them to USA in rotting form over the years in order to revive the show.
What will the story be?
Many of your favorites from the first eight seasons of the show will be back. There are plans to include Timothy Omundson’s Lassiter in some shape or form; many of the original plans for him had to be changed after he suffered a stroke earlier this year. Luckily, he’s been getting stronger in recovery, and we’re eager to see what the next Psych: The Movie does in order to feature the character more than they are this time around.
Meanwhile, you’re going to see some other characters turn up who were on the show in the past in recurring capacity, and Zachary Levi is going to be starring as the villain for the episode in the Thin White Duke — a guy whose personal mission will be to destroy Shawn and Gus. What makes this more interesting is that we’ve got a villain this time around who is more after Shawn and Gus specifically than any other crime. This allows him to stand out from the norm and some of the other people that we’ve seen on the show over the years.
Our hope is that the movie will get great ratings, and with that start to make us all the more excited to see more Psych down the road.
