Animal Kingdom season 2 episode 9 spoilers: The yacht job; ratings

Animal Kingdom season 2 episode 9

When Animal Kingdom season 2 episode 9 airs on TNT next week, Deran and Craig are going to find themselves in an unusual spot: Questioning the future of their heist as opposed to reveling in the present of it. It’s one thing to have something terrible happen after a job that leaves you scrambling; it’s different altogether to be stuck in a position where the drama unfolds before you get going (thank Baz for that). All signs point to this being one of the main focuses of the next new episode of the show entitled “Custody”; alas, there isn’t a whole lot of specific information regarding the origin of the name here, but that probably won’t be all that hard to figure out when it airs.

The biggest thing that’s clear for Baz is that he won’t be spending his time standing still, even if he’s not a part of the heist. He’s got some reasons for leaving the yacht job behind, and he won’t waste much time figuring out what he wants to do instead … let along making sure that there are others who are on board with it and ready to go.

Animal Kingdom season 2 episode 9 synopsis – “When Baz (Scott Speedman) bows out of the yacht heist, Craig (Ben Robson) and Deran (Jake Weary) consider their options. Meanwhile, Baz recruits J (Finn Cole) for a more personal job.”

The latest ratings update

We like being able to report good news in these weekly Animal Kingdom articles, mostly because we like seeing quality TV stick around. The better the show’s live+same-day ratings are, the more apparent that it will be that the show has a season 3 renewal coming its way.

This week, we’re more confident in the show’s future than we have ever been at any other point in the summer! The 0.4 rating that it drew for the July 18 episode ties as its best for the season. Meanwhile, it also set a season high in total viewers with 1.27 million people checking it out. For the record, there are only four episodes in the first season that posted better numbers, and that should be a pretty darn awesome incentive for TNT to realize that there is no reason to wait around before issuing out that renewal.

While the network doesn’t have to make a decision on the future of Animal Kingdom before the end of the season, we do think that a renewal will and should come before the finale. It’s always nice to see a good show have its future cemented, and if TNT can do that, it may make the fans more comfortable recommending it to others. It’s always easier to get involved in watching a show when you think that it’s going to be around for a long time rather than thrown on the TV scrap heap.
