Outlander season 3: Sam Heughan talks fitness and more after wrap party

Roark Gyms

Even though Outlander season 3 may be officially filmed, the stories just keep coming! Today, we’re talking about Sam Heughan’s latest Facebook Live video, something that we teased previously in collaboration with Roark Gyms. This is where the actor trained while he filmed the show in South Africa, and this video is mostly about fitness and health.

Over the course of the fifteen minutes below, Sam speaks out (the morning after the wrap party, no less) about his My Peak Challenge initiative, its charity connections to Bloodwise, and the group’s focus on having everyone find their own “peak” version of themselves. He also discusses his recent Men’s Health shoot, and some of the work that went into that. Obviously, being in a fitness magazine is not something that happens overnight; it takes a lot of work, and also with that a lot of discipline. There is also some talk in here about how he fasts, and also how there are some treats (including chocolate) that he does continue to indulge in.

Even for those out there who aren’t too fitness-focused, there are a few little tidbits in here about the relationship between the show and Heughan’s own health and fitness. It’s a cool interview just because it’s very different from most others that are out there with him, and you get to see a different side of him that is speaking more about his lifestyle and how people from all walks of life can work on being their best selves.

Heughan is going to go from filming in South Africa to eventually a new movie production alongside Kate McKinnon and Mila Kunis, and that is something that you can read about further over at the link here. In general, this is going to be a very busy year for Sam; he also has a promotional tour ahead for the third season of Outlander, and it’s certainly possible that season 4 will start filming later this year. After all, location scouting for the new season is already underway, and based on what executive producer Matthew B. Roberts said recently, the writers room will be hard at work on some of those episodes before long.

What else is Sam promoting?

If you missed it, yesterday we posted an announced that the fundraiser promoted by Sam for Youth Theatre Arts Scotland officially reached its goal; yet, there are still some new rewards that you may want to check out!
