MasterChef season 8 episode 2 exclusive: Kate, Taylor face off for a white apron!
The task is both simple yet challenging: Cook a salmon dish that will impress Gordon Ramsay, Christina Tosi, and Aaron Sanchez. Both home cooks have a very different approach to how they want to present their food.
Taylor – She’s going in a direction inspired by her Colombian heritage, and it sounds delicious. This is the sort of food we enjoy eating, and it’s still unique enough that’s something that we have never tried before in this form.
Kate – Meanwhile, she’s keeping the salmon fairly simple while relying on a broth with Indian origins to further infuse it with flavor. Kate’s story is an interesting one in that she made it to the MasterChef Kitchen before. The difference this time is that she’s here to get the white apron! It is nice that the show is figuring out a way to bring back contestants who previously made it to this point before; after all, it’s not as though she previously had a chance to compete beyond just a brief appearance.
Is it possible that the judges throw a curveball and put both ladies through? Maybe in theory, but that’s not something they’ve been keen to do so far this season. Odds are that they’ll continue to follow the current pattern and give one or two aprons depending on how many cooks there are in the kitchen. (Someone cue up that “Too Many Cooks” video — it happens virtually every time that we think about this old phrase.)
Wednesday night, we’ll return with a full review of the episode, and following that presumably the field will be chosen for the season. Episode 3 is where the competition as we know it has begun in past years, with the cooks facing off in Mystery Box, Elimination, and Team Challenges. We’ll see just what awaits the crew this time around.
