Arrow season 5: Stephen Amell talks Oliver’s son, potential reveal

Today marked the latest edition of the Heroes & Villains Fan Fest in Chicago, which of course marks an opportunity for many various stars from the superhero world to come together and discuss some of their favorite shows.

For Stephen Amell, this meant on Saturday a chance to discuss further Arrow past and present, and one of the biggest loose ends in everything that is going on in regards to his son. If you remember, Oliver made sure that his ex and her boy got as far away from anything dangerous as possible during season 4. He realizes that as long as they are around him, he’s got the capacity to put danger in their path.

Yet, this does still seem like an unsatisfying end to that story given that Oliver’s remaining out of his son’s life. Maybe that is meant to be open-ended as a direct consequence of the path he’s chosen to take, but we have to imagine that there could still be opportunities to explore this dynamic further.

As it turns out, Amell seems to feel more or less the same way. After being asked by a young fan about Oliver’s son and if he would ever find out the truth about his dad, he responded with the following:

“If I were a betting man, I’d put money on that happening sooner or later.”

There’s no guarantee that this will happen in season 5, but ironically the character was just referenced on this past episode by Adrian Chase after he made it clear that he knew everything that there was about Oliver, and he would stop at nothing to make his life into hell. You could argue that now, Oliver could be a little safer given that his fight with Prometheus is done. He seems finished with being the Green Arrow, and if that is the case, is it possible that he could go off and live a normal life? Could he tell his son the truth?

Well, it’s complicated. You do still have to remember that Oliver is still the target of many people as the Mayor, and eventually you do have to think that we could end up seeing Vigilante circle back to him if Prometheus’ work is done with him.
