‘MacGyver’ spoilers: Official details on ‘Hawaii Five-0’ crossover
You heard previously that “MacGyver” would be crossing over with “Hawaii Five-0” for an upcoming episode airing on March 10, and now, we’re getting a little bit more of a feel as to what this story will be about.
CBS confirmed recently some of the first details for this “MacGyver” episode entitled “Flashlight,” which is going to feature our main characters heading off to the islands to work on a state — from there, they will spend some time with Taylor Wily, Grace Park, and Daniel Dae Kim from “Five-0.” It’s not a two-part crossover spanning both shows, but this is still a fun opportunity to see the two worlds collide. The synopsis below offers more:
“When Mac and the team travel to Hawaii to aid in earthquake relief efforts, they team up with Chin (Daniel Dae Kim) and Kono (Grace Park) from the Five-0 task force to rescue a group of government scientists trapped in a building. However, as they work on the complicated rescue, a group using the chaos as a distraction aims to steal the top-secret weaponry from the scientists.”
If this does turn out to be a ratings success, it would be fun to see the show try to stage something even more epic next year that spans the two shows back-to-back. It makes sense for them to try given that they air on the same night, but we’re also well aware of some of the production challenges. “Five-0” obviously films in Hawaii, while “MacGyver” films all the way in Atlanta. Trying to make this happen regularly is probably a little trickier than NBC’s Chicago shows jumping constantly from one show to the other. Still, we imagine that this is going to be really fun, really action-packed, and a nice way to celebrate the two programs as we get closer to the end of the season.
