‘MacGyver’ episode 15 preview: Is the Zodiac killer back?
The February sweeps do have a tendency to give you some big stories, and it look as though the folks over at CBS’ “MacGyver” are especially taking that to heart moving into next week’s “Magnifying Glass.” It’s one thing to give us a personal story that is very much tied to one of the main characters; it’s another thing altogether to bring up one of the most notorious killers of all time.
Yet, this is precisely who this episode is going to conjure up.
Synopsis – “When Matty’s goddaughter and her boyfriend are killed in a San Francisco park, Mac and the team investigate the crime and start to suspect that the 1970s Zodiac Killer has returned.”
We suppose that within a fictionalized world, almost anything is possible; however, wouldn’t it be far more likely that we’re just looking at a copycat killer here? We’re now going to pretend to know a whole lot about the Zodiac killer other than seeing the movie several years ago, but in the internet age it’s probably not that hard for a demented person to look up information on what happened and try to follow up on the M.O. to serve their own means.
The Matty story is probably equally important, mostly because we’re trying to make up for lost time; also, much of the story so far has focused on making her appear as this hardened, tough-as-nails law-enforcement boss who has a history of making life hell for Jack. It’d be good to see her have a softer, more human side where we understand more of where she came from and what she’s fighting for. It’s not entirely clear just how much of that we’re going to be seeing over the course of a single hour, but maybe this serves as a nice introduction. Hopefully, she’ll feel like a member of the Phoenix Foundation family before too long.

Interesting that your show is about “Zodiac is back”, he has never left. He told everyone that he would continue to kill, that he would change his way of collecting his slaves for his after life. Yet the police want to believe that the many victims ( 12 plus) Zodiac claimed back in the 1990’s in Pittsburg Calif., had to be some copy cat? He is not dead and he has not stopped! He is more than likely “very afraid” of today’s technology ,so it is doubtful that he will come out from under his rock and send proof he is still here. That must be hard for him as much as he loves all of the attention he would get if he sent proof, like Paul Stine’s wallet or drivers license
However we must not forget that he is the ultimate coward, so he probably won’t be doing that.
