‘Empire’ season 3, episode 6 preview: On Terrence Howard, cast in ‘Chimes at Midnight’
“Empire” fans, you’ve definitely waiting a long time for the show to return to TV. It’s been weeks before tonight that you last saw a new episode on Fox, but luckily, the network delivered a new episode tonight. You got to see the aftermath of some key decisions from Lucious Lyon and company, and that’s in addition to that crazy ghost scene that feels so far in the past at this point that it is (relatively) a distant memory.
“Chimes at Midnight” is the title for the next installment, which could prove to be particularly juicy for Terrence Howard since his character is going to be rather mischievous (to put it lightly) when it comes to his involvement in the Cookie / Angelo relationship.
Synopsis – “Empire is hacked and the leak creates feuds between artists and among the Lyon family. Andre takes advantage of the leak to step up and prove his worth to the company. Meanwhile, Lucious continues to try and drive a wedge between Cookie and Angelo, and Jamal finds himself in a love triangle.”
All of this sounds interesting, but we’re not sure the writers of the show quite knew what they were getting into when they first crafted the idea of this hacking story. Leaks have become such a prominent part of pop culture over the past few weeks, especially in terms of some taking advantage of them in order to get a leg up.
As for the various love triangles on the show, that’s mostly interesting just because “Empire” is a show that crafts these sort of romance arcs fairly well. With a lesser show without good characters, it’d probably feel cheesy and annoying to go down this direction time and time again.
Promo – Judging from this, we’re in for a pretty-emotional episode coming up. Not only that, but there are only three episodes left before we get to the midseason finale. Be prepared for one of the most dramatic ones of the season to date, where family and other problems rise to the surface.
