ABC reveals ‘Scandal’ season 6 premiere date, first promo
Gladiators, assemble! The great news is that there is no more waiting for “Scandal” season 6 to obtain a premiere date. The bad news? You’re still going to be waiting for a while in order to see it.
In the new promo below via ABC, it is revealed officially that the show starring Kerry Washington will be back with new episodes starting on Thursday, January 19 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time. The show is taking the place of the low-rated “Notorious,” with the hope here being that it will bolster the ABC lineup further and give people something to talk about. While the show’s ratings aren’t what they once were, it certainly is a solid performer and a social-media warrior. Both of these things are valuable for ABC right now given that they are not exactly in the midst of a great season.
This promo (or “trailer,” as ABC calls it — personally we don’t like to think of anything in those terms unless it runs longer than a minute) does signal an end to the election storyline sooner rather than later, and that the first ten minutes of the premiere episode are certainly chaotic. All of that sounds good to us given how tired we are of most election headlines right now. We just hope that one way or another, there is a certain element of control to the story; that’s one of the things that the fifth season really lacked, and most of the storytelling with Rowan and that whole organization feels like a different show. We’d either find a different way to incorporate them or maybe move away from getting into secret organizations. Turning Jake Ballard into a Vice-Presidential candidate seemed like a good way to change things up for that group.
Now that the premiere date is official, we’re hoping that we get a few more promos of this variety coming up.
