‘Supernatural’ season 12: Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles would want Eric Kripke back before series finale

Supernatural -

We should start off this “Supernatural” season 12 article with a simple reminder: It’s incredibly unlikely that we’re ever going to see Eric Kripke back on the show in a permanent capacity. He is now the executive over on NBC’s “Timeless” with Shawn Ryan, and he’s said publicly that he doesn’t really have much involvement in the day-to-day operations with the show anymore. Yet, he’s still held in extremely high regard, even so much so that the show’s two stars would love to have him back even if it is just to have some input in an eventual series finale.

In speaking on this subject (per TVLine), star Jared Padalecki had the following to say:

“I don’t like to say, ‘When the show ends,’ because the show’s not going to end … But when the show does start to wrap down, I would love to see Eric come back and give his opinion. Because he created us in the first place, so it would be an honor.”

Padalecki’s co-star Jensen Ackles concurred, saying that “it would be a nice little bow on top of the whole thing [to] have Eric take us out.” Kripke himself also says that he’d be open to the idea, depending on his schedule and the desires of current showrunners Andrew Dabb and Robert Singer. They are running this ship now, so the last thing that you want to do of course is step on anyone’s toes.

To us, the biggest thing we hope is that said ending isn’t coming anytime soon. Given where we are right now in season 12 and the show’s ratings, we could easily see the franchise making it all the way to season 15 at least.

There is another new episode of the show coming to the network on Thursday, so if you want to check out some more teasers on it right now, head over to the link here! (Photo: The CW.)
